Amanda Coy Chouinard (2011 Artist)
Amanda is constantly inspired to express meaning through movement, art, and performance. Speaking with her body, she finds dance necessary to life.
Amanda Coy Chouinard has been dancing with Minnesota Dance Ensemble since 2007 and took over as Artistic Director in spring of 2011. She grew up dancing in a studio from the age of 4, and participated in gymnastics, cheerleading, musicals, show choir, and dance team in high school. Her training in modern and ballet during the completion of her dance minor from St Cloud State University awoke her passion for expression through movement.
Her drive to perform comes from within, and she strives to emotionally connect with every dance work she is a part of. She is also a self-taught painter, and loves to communicate through other forms of art.
Amanda has danced with SCSU's repertory dance theater, the April Sellers Dance Collective, the 2010 Minnesota Fringe Festival, and is a dancer and beginning aerialist with David DeBlieck's Wicked Sister Dance Theatre. She also tried her hand as a dance team coach at North Branch High School during the 2010/11 competition season. For her day job, she works as an Academic Advisor at Anoka-Ramsey Community College and continues to explore possibilities for her future.
